sparky Paul Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) The whole thing stinks. My renewal was around £390 this year, fully comp with business use, and I thought that was steep. OH now has a little car for school runs, had to start from zero no claims because her previous full no claims had lapsed. First year, premium £190, I didn't think that was too bad. Second year renewal, £204 after some bargaining. This year, with 2yrs no claims, £300 and they won't budge an inch. I asked the guy at the broker what's going on, the best excuse he could could up with was "it's because of all the fraudulent claims". I asked him what they were doing, paying out fraudulent claims, and he just shrugged his shoulders. When the whole industry is doing exactly the same, it's easier for these companies to pay these claims out and lump the cost onto the premiums, rather than investigate more thoroughly and fight the claims in court. It's about time some of these cartels were sorted out. Edited June 21, 2011 by sparky Paul Quote

Bigjeeze Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 The insurance companies are running a cartel - they fix & rig prices as they always have done. If, as the government bizzarely believes, the new insurance law results in many more cars being insured and therefore a consequent drop in claims we should all see reductions!!!. Some chance - for some reason insurance companies seem to be immune from any kind of pressure from regulators or government - they charge what they like they pay out if they like, if they don't try and scam you in between. My 2 Glas are insured with LV and renewal is next month - both last year were sub Quote

majordamage069 Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 hi all 3 weeks it taken me to get insurance sorted. spent days and days on internet and phone. Quotes from Quote
kebrina Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Mine also went up 25% for no reason at renewal this year. I was told it's because of the sex-discrimination thingy, instead of charging the boys less, they're charging the girls more. Also too many compo claims just getting paid out rather than investigated. It stinks. Hoping to lose the motor all together once all these sprogs are in school, bit of a pipe dream atm. Quote

redders74 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 These insurance quotes are unbelievable? I could only dream of paying those prices, the price i have to pay is most definatly a location related issue. Must be this dead beat town i live in lol  And thanks to all for the replies. scottclarke25 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 mines a 2.3 ghia petrol 2001 plate , my insurance goes up every year without fail and i get more ncb every year too . started at Quote
dix Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 I am the wrong side of 60 ,have max ncb & my premium (october 2010) is just under 300.00 that is fully comp, added my 25yr old son on to policy & it went up 100.00 so in total with monthly payments its around 420.00 which im happy with also the difference between fully comp & 3rd party fire & theft is worth bothering about, i dont take breakdown insurance normally but this policy has it included but the only thing with b/down policies is the rescue side you have got to read the small print or ask cos most of them say that they will take you TO THE NEAREST GARAGE so you will be lumbered with a large bill , i have taken b/down cover with the AA & for 20 quid a month i get parts & repairs upto the value of 5oo quid & can claim a max of 5 times a year, also home/destination relay if you want it, mine is a 2001 mk2 1.9tdi with 93k on the clock Quote

raziel2710 Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I know this is an old thread and I'm sorry if me posting in here annoys any but I had to say this. I'm from Ireland (I know my profile says Scotland but Ireland wasn't in the options to select) and we usually get ripped to shreds on motor insurance. But - I got insurance in my 2.0 Gal and I'm only driving for five years (four of which are on a full license) and my insurance is only costing me Quote
